At Sal’s Gourmet Pizza & Pasta, top-notch service is the number-one priority. Considering that the business has thrived for 22 years at its Manalapan location, it’s clear that they don’t disappoint.

Growing up, owner Sal Marsella worked for his uncles at Carlo’s Gourmet Pizza, founded in 1983. However, as the years passed, Sal developed his own distinct style and techniques in the workplace, leading him to branch off and form his own business in 2002.

So, what contributed to Sal’s success? According to Sal himself, one of the biggest factors that keeps the restaurant alive is the family-style dynamic of its employees. Sal calls his team “homegrown”. He taught each loyal member the ropes from a very young age, and with time, they all generated enough confidence to put their own spin on their positions until they mastered their roles. They’re not only incredibly reliable, but also consistent when it comes to putting out delicious food every time.

Sal takes pride in basing his restaurant’s food off of his family’s original recipes. Passed down through generations, he holds these recipes close to his heart, and plans to keep the chain going by sharing his cooking with his 14-year-old son.

At Sal’s, there is guaranteed to be something for the whole family to sit down and enjoy, whether it’s pizza, subs, wraps, salads, or one of many delectable entrees. Everything that comes out of his kitchen is not only high-quality in taste, but affordable in price– two major reasons that keep his regular customers coming back time and time again.

Ultimately, what drives Sal most is his undying passion for the industry. When you swing by for a slice, you’ll feel that warmth through his greetings and the caring conversations he starts. That reason alone is enough to return to Sal’s for incredible pizza and an unforgettable experience.
