When it comes to remodeling a house in New Jersey, there’s a name that first comes to mind for thousands of homeowners across Monmouth County: Ace Home Improvements. For 72 years, Ace has helped members of the community restyle their homes into the version of their dreams by replacing roofs, siding, doors, windows, and fully flipping the appearance of inside rooms. While the business is currently handled under the watch of David Fisher, the Fisher family’s involvement spans decades back in time.

Ace was pioneered by David’s grandfather Gus Fisher, alongside Gus’ son-in-law Bill Karol in 1953. Many know that the company was originally titled Ace Aluminum, which was quite applicable at the time, considering aluminum doors and windows were all the rage in the 1950s for their lightweight yet effective nature. Gus and Bill started out as egg farmers in downtown Freehold, which required extensive knowledge of protective windows, and thus, the concept of Ace Aluminum was born.

The company gained traction quickly by way of selling storm windows door-to-door, and the management team expanded right along with it. Soon, Gus’ son Barry Fisher and son-in-law Irving Stein hopped on board. When Gus eventually retired, Barry, Irving, and original co-owner Bill were prepared to take the industry by storm. The crew of three helped skyrocket Ace’s success for nearly 20 years following Gus’ retirement, expanding their services far beyond doors and windows. When Irving and Bill stepped away from the company in 1995, it was Barry Fisher who was left to transform his father’s pride and joy into something even more monumental.

In no time, Ace was shifting gears from only aluminum products to now work on roofing, siding, garage and patio doors, fencing, masonry– the list goes on and on. In 2000, Barry invited his son David Fisher into the trade, perpetuating the family's participation into a third generation of renovation experts. Ace had resided in Freehold up until that point, but the drastic increase of services called for a major makeover of the company’s headquarters, too.

In 2004, Ace relocated to Manalapan, symbolizing a fresh start for all that the company could do. Now housing a showroom of state-of-the-art products and a warehouse stocked to the brim with customizable pieces, it was about time that “Ace Aluminum” was rebranded in the most definitive way possible: renaming itself Ace Home Improvements.

As we enter 2025, Barry Fisher is part-time retired, so his son David has taken the reins on running the company. He is proud to say that Ace Home Improvements has modernized itself, regularly offering innovative products and utilizing the latest technology to assist in their work process. Many employees have dedicated decades of their careers to helping out at Ace, from talented installers specialized in their crafts to the friendly office staff, salespeople, and more.

If you were to ask David what keeps him committed to Ace after all these years, he would emphasize the value of connecting with homeowners. He finds joy in meeting new people every day and reshaping their homes to suit their wishes, just as much as he loves revisiting prior customers to expand upon past work. Knowing that Ace Home Improvements has deep roots in his family tree, David works endlessly in honor of all the Fishers that paved the way.
